The Priority on Youth Tournament (POY) Series is back! For the first event Forge Fencing hosted 43 athletes from 5 different clubs from across North Carolina. This is the longest running youth fencing tournament series in North Carolina, first launched by Mid-South Fencers’ Club in 2007 as a development path for saber fencers. POY has evolved into supporting all youth Olympic fencing weapons. The growth and development also extends to training coaches, referees, armorers, and tournament operations staff.

The 2023-2024 season will feature five tournaments. January 27 & 28 is our next scheduled event. Registration is here. After each event we compile the results and will update the Priority on Youth Points List and upload photos to our Facebook album. This is a great way for young fencers to learn how points lists work in the fencing world, and a way to track their progress and improvement throughout the season. Athletes who participate in 4 out of the 5 tournament dates are eligible to select an awesome prize from our Finalé Event & Prize Table on June 16th.

The Points List

On the spreadsheet below you can see the placement for each athlete in each event, the total number of participants, and the points awarded for each position. The larger the event, the more points are awarded. This is a great incentive for the fencers to encourage their peers to participate and grow the events, and also helps younger fencers feel some success as they test out the higher levels of competition. Look for updates after each event and use them to track progress.

The points list below is a combined list from each event and ranks the fencers. Their top points finish (1st value) from each event is added up and the fencers are ranked based on that. At the end of the season, the top four “1st Value” points are added up to determine the prize table points list. Please note, fencers need to participate in four out of the five tournament dates to be eligible for the prize table on June 16th.
