The Priority on Youth (POY) Tournament Series is in full swing! On January 12th, Forge Fencing hosted the second event of the season, welcoming 40 athletes from three North Carolina clubs to compete in foil and saber.
A Legacy of Youth Fencing Development
POY is the longest-running youth fencing tournament series in North Carolina. Originally launched in 2007 by Mid-South Fencers' Club as a development path for saber fencers, it has since grown to include foil this season. Beyond competition, POY also supports the training of coaches, referees, armorers, and tournament operations staff, making it a vital part of the fencing community’s development.

How the Points System Works
The Priority on Youth Points List ranks fencers based on their top performances across events. Each athlete’s highest point finish (1st value) from each event is added up to determine their ranking. At the end of the season, a fencer’s top four “1st Value” points are totaled to determine the Prize Table Points List.
To be eligible for the Finalé Event & Prize Table on June 8th, fencers must compete in at least four out of the five tournaments.
