Last weekend, January 19-21st, the Forge Fencing Team traveled to the 2024 Fairfax Challenge RYC/RJCC/ROC in Fredericksburg, VA. Forge fencers represented in all three weapons, many competing in multiple events and days. A total of 19 Forge fencers competed in 35 events!

Forge Fencing represented at the January North American Cup (NAC) in San Jose, CA this past weekend. Veteran fencers (adult fencers ages 40 and up) took the stage in all three weapons throughout the weekend along with Senior (ages 13 and above) team members.

Forge Fencing Academy concluded its first season of the re-launched Priority on Youth Tournament Series on June 3rd and 4th. Athletes from across North Carolina came to Durham to compete in Foil, Epee, and Saber in a variety of age categories. This event was the fifth in a series of events designed to promote youth fencing development in NC. The finalé event featured 48 athletes representing 4 different clubs from across the state. This is the longest running youth fencing tournament series in North Carolina, first launched by Mid-South Fencers’ Club in 2007 as a development path for saber fencers.

With excitement, Forge Fencing announces the return of the Big Blue, a local USA Fencing-sanctioned open event for all Olympic fencing weapons and Y-12 events for youth fencers.  The Big Blue was established in 2008 and was last hosted by Mid-South Fencers’ Club in September of 2019.

Ten members of Forge Fencing are headed for Minneapolis to compete in USA Fencing’s annual National Championships, the largest fencing tournament in the world. The team has been working hard all season to prepare for this event. Our fencers have been training in Forge’s new facility for the past five months and have been making good use of the space. The return of the Ryder Cup RJCC and ROC was February 25-27th, 2022 after a two year Covid delay. It was the inaugural event for the new Forge Fencing Academy and Club space and it felt great to host tournaments again. We stress-tested a 13-day old facility and learned how to maximize its use. Thank you all who attended and offered feedback on how to optimize the space!
