The Forge Fencing community came together for an outstanding March Priority on Youth Tournament, welcoming 55 athletes competing across five events with 65 total registrations. The competition brought together fencers from six clubs across North Carolina, with athletes traveling from as far away as Washington, DC to take part in a day filled with strong performances, sportsmanship, and community spirit. Be sure to check out our photos from the event on our Facebook album.

The event featured a number of breakout performances from developing athletes. One of the most impressive came from Joe Guo, who delivered an exceptional showing in saber by capturing gold in both Youth 12 and Youth 14. Competing up an age group and still coming out on top highlighted Joe’s skill, determination, and continued development in the sport.

In Youth 12 foil, Jacqueline Halley put together a dominant performance throughout the day, ultimately earning gold in a final against teammate André Smith Jr. The all-Forge final showcased the depth of talent developing within the club and the strong training environment these young athletes share.

Behind the scenes, the Forge Foundation Teen Leader squad once again demonstrated outstanding leadership. The Teen Leaders played a critical role in the success of the tournament - helping run tournament operations and officiating the vast majority of bouts. Their work was carried out under the supervision of Head Referee and USA Fencing Certified Referee Observer (CRO) Stephen Pashby, ensuring a high-quality competitive environment while giving young officials valuable experience.

Events like this highlight what makes the Forge community special: developing athletes, empowering young leaders, and bringing together clubs from across the region to compete and grow together. We love hosting these events, and truly appreciate everyone’s support.

Thank you to all the athletes, families, coaches, referees, and volunteers who helped make this tournament such a success.

Updated rankings are posted below.

Our next Forge event will be held on April 19, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the strip! Registration and information is available HERE!
