Forge Fencing Heads to USA Fencing National Junior Olympics & Division 1 NAC in Charlotte
This weekend, February 14th-17th, Forge Fencing will send 28 athletes to compete in the USA Fencing National Junior Olympic Championships in Charlotte. This marks our third appearance at the event as Forge Fencing, and it will be our largest team to qualify and compete to date!

The National Junior Olympics (JO’s) will determine national champions in the Cadet (born 2008-2011) and Junior (born 2005-2011) categories across all three weapons—men’s and women’s foil, epee, and saber—for a total of 12 championship titles. Top fencers from across the country will gather in Charlotte to compete at this prestigious event.

Our Cadet and Junior teams will represent Forge in all three weapons. Athletes qualified through regional and national competitions or by securing top finishes at the North Carolina Division’s Junior Olympic Qualifier last November. The team has been training hard in preparation, and we are excited to see their efforts in action!

Division 1 NAC Competition
This year’s event is particularly special as it also features a Division 1 North American Cup (NAC). Entry into Division 1 requires a minimum rating, and top finishers will earn points toward national team selection for events like the World Championships and even the Olympics.

Several Forge fencers and coaches will compete in Division 1 events:

  • Sky Miller (Women’s Saber, Duke University) – Forge Coach
  • Chad Beaty (Men’s Saber) – Forge Coach
  • Enzo Donnelly (Men’s Epee)
  • Nora Xie (Women’s Saber)
  • Matthew Chaves (Men’s Saber, Brandeis University)
  • Ari Etin (Men’s Saber, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill)

More Than Just Fencing
Beyond the competition, the National Junior Olympics will host a college fair, "College Conversations" discussions, a referee clinic, and the USA Fencing Board of Directors meeting. National fencing equipment vendors will also be on-site throughout the event.

Join Us in Charlotte!
The National Junior Olympics and Division 1 NAC will take place at the Charlotte Convention Center from Friday, February 14th, through Monday, February 17th. The event is free and open to the public, and we encourage Forge families and friends to come cheer on our fencers! Finals events are usually live streamed via the USA Fencing Youtube channel.

Please note: The club will be closed on Friday, February 14th, and Saturday, February 15th as our athletes and coaches compete.
